Happy New Year! Put that resolution aside, because…cake.
I’m posting about food for the very first time, which is really odd given how obsessed I am with eating. But with the endless amount of baking and cooking I experienced over the holidays, I just have to share. Feast your eyes on the easiest and most delicious specimen of baked goods known to man kind.
It’s called 1-2-3-4-5 cake. It’s really that easy.
Combine:
1 egg
2 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons milk
4 tablespoons sugar
5 tablespoons flour
Mix well.
THAT.IS.IT. I added a half teaspoon of vanilla for a touch of flavoring and one teaspoon baking powder to give it a little rise.
The batter should be smooth and liquid.
I added cut pears on top. Apples work well too. Just cut into half inch pieces, douse with egg wash and cream, and sprinkle a couple rounds of sugar. Mix well. You can add the zest of a small lemon to give it a little punch.
Pour batter into greased 9 inch baking pan.
Scatter pear/apple pieces on top.
Bake at 400 degrees for 30 mins. You can leave it in the oven for a few minutes longer if you fancy a deeper tan (who doesn’t?) like I do.
Cut, serve, indulge, and say goodbye to that New Year’s resolution.
Resolutions are made to be broken anyway, right?
PS – merci beaucoup, maman! xo
