Christmas, 2002. My family and I decided to spend a few days in Napa. We found a quaint little cottage near downtown and I immediately set out in search of the closest thrift store. To my delight, a Salvation Army was just around the corner.
Unlike some thrift store aficionados, I don’t really have a strategy when I shop at these stores. It’s a “scour and scrub” moment for me with heavy reliance on my eyes. I couldn’t believe it when I saw a pair of hot mid century scissor chairs amongst the clutter of dated duds. Do my eyes deceive me?
Upon closer inspection, I discovered that they were branded “Dux Sweden” and I knew then that I had stumbled upon a rare find.
Here’s a “before” pic.
